This simple 4 pin valve holder from the 1920s was designed and manufactured by the Graham Farish company (UK), and cost 6d (about 2.5 new pence). Having long since ceased producing radio parts, this company (recently acquired by Bachmann) today makes model railway carriages, coaches and locomotives under the Grafar name. The valve holder show above was wrapped in a piece of greaseproof paper that also carried advertisements for other Graham Farish radio products. The paper, somewhat crumpled after more than 70 years, is reproduced below.
